OUR GOAL:

To provide a safe and loving Christian environment for youth during
the after school hours.

Seminole United Methodist Church is committed to being alight
house in our community to help guide people to encountering the
love of Christ through our service to them.

We are especially committed to the youth of our community and
understand the incredible need for safe after school programs for
our youth, especially our middle school youth.

The Seminole United Methodist Church Youth Center will help youth
find a safe place to come and relax, socialize with other youth and
with adults, receive help with their homework and/or tutoring if
needed and be able to do research using the Internet,engage in
healthy and fun recreational activities and even learn how to make
healthy, nutritious snacks for themselves.

Our program will run Monday through Friday 4:00 to 6:30 pm

1.        Homework/Tutoring Station        
Youth will receive homework assistance from qualified retired
teachers and skilled retired business/technical persons.  If a student
needs special assistance or one on one training on a specific area,
tutors will also be provided.

2.        Computer Lab Station
An up to date computer lab with 5 Internet ready computers will be
available for students who need to do research for school will be
available.  This computer lab will also be equipped with printers so
that students can even write up their reports if they need to.  
Technical supervision will be provided both for assistance and
Internet security for the
students.

3.        Game Station
Kids love games, especially video games.  We will have a station
where kids can have access to 2 play station areas along with
several games so that 4 players can play at the same time.  Not only
will they have access to video games, but kids can also play ping-
pong, air-hockey, fooseball, and a variety of table games, such as
chess, battleship, twister,etc…     In addition to the indoor games,
basketball,soccer,volleyball and other organized games will be
available outside in our church campus.

4.        Specialty Class
Station There will be an area designated for quite study
and/orspecialty classes that we would like to offer, such as
painting, art,music and dance.  Students will be given a schedule as
to when these classes will take place.

5.        Snack Station
Delicious and nutritious snacks will be provided for the students that
they themselves will learn how to make, with the help of a qualified
adult.  We want to promote healthy food choices to our students and
help them to become independent in this area.
BUS DRIVERS NEEDED

We urgently need one or two people to
obtain a Class "C" Commercial Driver's
License, with passenger endorsement,
to assist Rev. Hallman with the
responsibility of driving the church bus
every afternoon to transport kids
to the after school program. If you are
available most afternoons from 4:00 till
4:30, and are willing to take the
required test, the church will pay the
fees for you to obtain the license.
